Like the M16A2 the front fore-grip for the M4A1 is ribbed which allows for secure gripping. In addition, like the M16A2, the upgrade potential for the M4A1 is almost insane.
The detachable handle reveals a sight rail that allows virtually any scope or sighting device to be installed. After market R.I.S grips for the front can be bought and further aiming aids like lasers and flashlights can be added! Even an M-203 grenade launcher can be installed with relative ease!

Those who are worried that the small battery stored in the front grip might limit their upgrade options can put their worries to rest, because specially shaped custom battery can be purchased.

It is also possible to mount 2 mini batteries in parallel in the fore grip giving you 2600 mA
